A BURROUGHES & WATTS LTD SNOOKER TABLE, with Arrowflite cushions, labelled with address of 431/2 Mary Street, Dublin which is likely the address of the retailer. This fine table is raised on turned and carved legs, a perfect piece to bring a games room to life. Along with the table this lot comes with 5 cues and 2 extensions & a box of snooker balls as photographed.
The saying goes that snooker was born on a Burroughes & Watts table in the ‘Ooty’ gentleman’s club in Northern India where Lieutenant Colonel Neville Chamberlin invented the game. Tables made by this company have been witness to many legendary players in the world of snooker form John Roberts Jnr, to Joe Davis, Arthur Peall and Joe Brady to name a few. The first ever professional match that lasted a full week was staged by Burroughes & Watts Soho Square in 1922.
Proceeds from the sale of this lot along with lot 51 will go towards the Allin Institute in Bandon fundraising initiative. The objectives of the Allin Institute in Bandon has always been towards works of an educational and charitable nature which benefit the community. As Bandon continues to grow, such a space in a central location is always in great demand. The committee hopes to restore the building and encourage people to us it much actively. The fundraising efforts which are on-going will help the group to achieve this and to secure the future of the building. Dimensions of table: 12ft by 6ft approximately.
